Derrick Stout has been playing the piano for ten years, and in that time he has composed well hundreds of musical pieces, from pop songs to sonatas and jazz songs to minuets.

He began his professional career about eight years ago playing evenings in the Hunt Room at the Deerpath Inn in Lake Forest, IL. Subsequently, he added Sunday brunches at Southgate Cafe, and moved his evening work to The Forge Club. Since then he has also played at The Four Seasons, Hotel Moraine, The Onwentsia Club, Shore Acres, Sunset Ridge, The Plaza Club, Jacque's, Cloud 9, various Hilton Hotels and numerous private engagements in the Chicagoland area. Although well versed in standards, pop songs and ballads, Derrick is unique in his presentation. The music is his own.

In 1997 Derrick's total combined CD sales was over 15,000. And his company, formerly Baby Doin' The Jig Productions, now Darwin Records, has incorporated and expanded to include Deerpath Music, a division of Darwin. which has re-released his hit CD "Deerpath", as well as CDs by local artists Scott Bennett, Jeannie Tanner, and Sonja Veile. "Since the inception of my recording studio I've enjoyed being submerged in music," says Derrick.
